HISTORY OF THE KOCHS COMPANY
The original building of KOCHs is located in Baiersdorf, in the heart of the Franconian land of horseradish. The first horseradish crops were planted here as early as 1430 by Margrave Johann the Alchemist.
EXPERIENCE & DEVELOPMENT THROUGH THE DECADES
FOUNDATION
In this year Georg Koch establishes his agricultural warehouse.
WHOLESALE
Karl Koch takes over the warehouse from Georg Koch. First potato wholesaler on site, as well as wholesaler for horseradish, fruits and vegetables.
POSTWAR PERIOD
Karl Koch, a pioneer in post-war Germany, recognizes the signs of time and begins processing horseradish to meet the growing demand for horseradish products. At the same time, trade in raw horseradish gains importance.
NEW PRODUCTS & MARKETS
After Karl Koch’s death, his wife Lisa does not hesitate for a second to continue the rapidly expanding business in the family tradition. Together with her son Hans-Karl, she founds “Karl Koch KG Meerrettichkonservenfabrik“. Newly developed products conquer the market in Germany and other European countries.
MODERNIZATION
In this year the first decisive step for the next millennium is made with the foundation of KOCHs Meerrettich GmbH. The company expands and modernizes in order to enlarge and improve the manufacturing of horseradish and delicatessen products.
NEW PRODUCTS & MARKETS
The subsidiary “KOCHs Torma (Hungaria) Kft.“ In Hungary is founded. This step opens up new sales markets in Eastern Europe, extends the supply with raw horseradish in a climatically ideal country and enables the development of further delicatessen products.
EXPERTISE & FUTURE INVESTMENTS
With the foundation of KOCHs Meerrettich & Feinkost GmbH, the traditional company is positioned for the future. Continuous investments in further development and modernization will ensure KOCHs broad horseradish expertise from field to jar as well as high-quality and exciting products for another 100 years.
